Always update your info

It's been a while since I posted and I noticed I have a lot of social media sites I need to update.

I noticed that a lot of people on Linked In consider me as a conceptual artist. I never saw myself as one until a friend pointed out that photography is conceptual art.

I also noticed I had a missed opportunity with a well known tech company. I will probably follow up and see what happens.

I will be updating my info this weekend. Who knows, that opportunity I didn't notice will open up.

More PT Sgt. Major

It is week 5 of my physical training. I started my training the week of March 29. I woke up one day and decided to get my act together. I started off easy with cardio each day. I walked 30 minutes a day on the treadmill at an incline of 3.0 and speed of 3.0 mph.

I incorporated weight training on week 2 . I work upper body on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I do lower body on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

I alternate with cycling and the treadmill each day.

One thing I can say so far is that I have more energy and not as tired as I used to be.

Slowly but surely, I will get to my college weight. :)

Productive day

I actually accomplished a lot of stuff today. I am at one of my many safehouses in OC pounding away on my laptop. I managed to upload and edit my photos from this past weekend.

I am planning out my weekend to relax and spend time with family.

Doh, I gotta go... the place is closing in 5 minutes ><

I will write more tomorrow...

It's not the gear, it's the person

People say I take good photos because I have a good camera.
This is not the case. It doesn't matter what gear you are using. The most important thing is what is in front of the camera and what is behind it. It is the subject and the shooter. You give me a $10000 camera or a disposable camera, I will produce the best photos I can take.

It is all about your attitude and energy when you take the shot. When you are happy, you take great shots. Always shoot with a cheerful attitude.

As an experiment, take a photo of a subject when you are thinking about stuff that makes you happy and smile. Mark those as the positive set. Next, take photos thinking about stuff that makes you sad and angry. Mark those as the negative set.

Examine both sets of photos. You will see the difference.

PMS

Preventive Maintenance Service

I am here at Starbucks waiting for my car to be serviced. It is the 3000-mile mark and I am getting my oil changed for my Tacoma and tires rotated. It is a good way to save gas and improve your gas mileage.

It is important to get your car checked every month. I keep a maintenance log every time I drive, get my car serviced and any additional information. In the long run , you know how your vehicles runs.

I wonder sometimes how people can just keep driving and not do the monthly checks. In the end, they end up spending more.

Two is One; One is None.

I am currently backing up all of the images from my memory cards.
It is an interesting learning experience.
I noticed I have taken so many photos. I try to back them up as best as I can.

I learned this saying from a friend:
"Two is One; One is None. Always have a backup"

You will be in a situation where you will run out of something you need the most.

There are times in my life when I ran out of film, batteries or even ink in a pen. I try to carry double or triple the quantity of the needed items when I am running errands or just out and about.
Before the days of digital photography, I took a lot of photos with my film camera. I was at a graduation when the batteries died in my external flash. I wasn't able to get the shots I wanted. As a result, I was limited in what I can photograph. After that event, I started carrying extra batteries. This has saved me and other people when taking photos.

This is one of many lessons I always live by. Even if my pack gets heavy, I rather have the extra stuff than be empty-handed.

Doing what we love: secret to happiness and success

My mentors taught me the secret to success and happiness: Do what you love. It makes you feel better and your days are much productive. You are not stressed out as well.

For me, photography is what I enjoy doing. I like to take pictures of everything and anything. You get to share with others your gifts and talents.

If you own a camera, go out there and take pictures of what you see. Open up a flickr.com account and share it with the world.

Does it matter what kind of camera or brand to get? It really doesn't matter what kind you have as long as it feels comfortable in your hand and it handles nicely.

Keep shooting...
